UPDATED: Ferndale Schools announce 2-hour delay due to snow

FERNDALE, Wash. — Snow accumulations in parking lots, sidewalks and walking paths are being cited the Ferndale School District being on a 2-hour late start today, February 16th.

Delayed start times are two hours later than regular start times. Those times are as follows:

• Elementary Schools (with the exception of Beach) – 11:25 am
• Beach Elementary School –10:10 am
• Horizon Middle School –10:00 am
• Vista Middle School – 9:58 am
• Ferndale High School – 9:40 amFerndale School District announcement (February 16, 2021)

Officials said in this morning’s announcement the delay will allow time for plowing and some snow removal. They warned that routes to and from schools will likely be slushy and slippery and to use caution.

In addition to the delayed start, morning and afternoon preschool sessions have been canceled as have all before-school activities.

District spokesperson Kelly Warner said via email that live-streamed classes at FHS will be delayed 2-hours and remote learning students in middle school will remain on their regular remote learning schedule.

Warner added that elementary remote-only students will also be operating on a two-hour delay.
