The City of Ferndale announced today it has, for the third consecutive year, received the Wastewater Treatment Plant Outstanding Performance Award for 2014. This is given by the Washington State Department of Ecology when there are zero violations with the permit under which the city operates.
As stated in the award letter,
It is not easy to operate a wastewater treatment plant 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, without violations. The Washington State Department of Ecology appreciates the extraordinary level of effort your plant operators demonstrated throughout 2014.
“Mike Olinger and our whole wastewater team have done an incredible job making sure that we are in compliance and staying ahead of the game,” said Mayor Gary Jensen.
