Ferndale City Council agenda items explained

The following letter to members of the Ferndale City Council is provided courtesy of Ferndale City Administrator Jori Burnett. It is regarding the Ferndale City Council meeting agenda for the regular meeting scheduled for 6pm, Monday, April 6th.

This will be the City’s first regular City Council meeting using an online video conference format. They last met March 16th, prior to current social distancing and “Stay Home, Stay Safe” mandates.

Anyone wanting to watch the online meeting live can click this link at about 6pm Monday, April 6th. Nothing needs to be installed since attendees can choose to “watch on the web” via their browser and “join” the video conference anonymously. Attendees’ video and audio inputs will be disabled to prevent meeting disruptions while attendees will still be able to view and hear the meeting participants.

Under the new format, the 3-minute-each public comment period is being replaced with submissions provided before the meeting. Submissions are to be sent to City Clerk Susan Duncan via email to susanduncan@cityofferndale.org. City staff say those submissions will be included in the meeting record but it is not certain whether they will be included with the other meeting documents or read into the record.

City Council meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month (or on the following Tuesday in event of a national holiday) at 6pm and typically (when not held online) in Council Chambers at the City Hall Annex at 5694 2nd Avenue.
