BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Work on the aerial wires crossing I-5 near the Lakeway Drive interchange will require occasional rolling slowdowns during the early morning hours between midnight and 4am on Tuesday, June 21st,
Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) say a utility crew is scheduled to work on the fiber lines that cross above I-5 and rolling slowdowns in both the northbound and southbound lanes between the W Bakerview Road and N Lake Samish interchanges are needed for that work to be carried out safely.
All on-ramps between W Bakerview Road and N Lake Samish will be closed until the rolling slowdown processions have passed.
Rolling slowdowns allow crews to complete work in 15-minute increments while minimizing the impact to the traveling public, allowing them to proceed through the work zone.Washington State Department of Transportation (June 17, 2022)
