Shortly after 6am this morning, What-Comm 911 dispatch received a call reporting flames and smoke coming from a building by the Phillips 66 Soccer Park on W Smith Road, east of Northwest Avenue.
Initial reports from Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7) first responders reported having knocked down the fire in the single-story building approximately 20 minutes after the initial dispatch.
WCFD7 Fire Chief Larry Hoffman said the building housed an office and the Fire Marshal’s Office had been on-site investigating the cause. According to Hoffman there was extensive smoke damage throughout the office area.
