BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) say a lane of I-5 in Bellingham is scheduled to be close 1am to noon, each day from Monday, April 28, 2025, through Thursday, May 1, 2025. The closure is needed to allow WSDOT maintenance crews work safely on the freeway’s shoulder.
WSDOT provided the following lane closure details.
- Monday, April 28: The left lane of southbound I-5 between the W Bakerview Road interchange (milepost 258) and the Sunset Drive (SR542) interchange (milepost 255).
- Tuesday, April 29: The left lane of southbound I-5 between the Iowa Street interchange (milepost 254) and south of the Samish Way interchange (milepost 251).
- Wednesday, April 30: The left lane of northbound I-5 between the Old Fairhaven Parkway (SR11) (milepost 250) interchange and the Iowa Street interchange (milepost 254).
- Thursday, May 1: The left lane of northbound I-5 between the Iowa Street interchange (milepost 254) and the W Bakerview Road interchange (milepost 258).
Motorists are warned to expect delays. Using alternate routes is encouraged.
