Lifelong Ferndalian and local contractor John Friberg built a tee box at the south end of VanderYacht Park pointing directly across the river to the park lawn next to the Carnation Oxford Building. Friberg and his classmates held a closest to the flag competition driving golf balls across the river. That was last year for the FHS Class of 1959’s 55th reunion.
Seems every year is class reunion year in Ferndale and they all happen during the Old Settlers’ Picnic weekend.
So John has again set up the tee box and there is a green complete with a flag across the river to drive toward. All members of the class of 1959 are invited to try their luck today, July 25th, until 6pm.
