Car vs semi-truck crash blocks northbound I-5 lane in Ferndale

FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched about 10:45am today, Tuesday, April 16th, to a report of a car versus semi-truck and trailer crash in the northbound lanes of I-5 north of the Portal Way interchange.

As of 11:25am, all lanes were reopened after the passing lane had been blocked and traffic reduced to the remaining single lane. A 1-mile traffic backup had formed extending south of the Main Street interchange.

According to the PulsePoint EMS dispatch log service, at least 1 patient was transported from the scene to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center via ambulance.

The car was reported to have ended up in the cable barrier in the median while the semi-truck was several dozen feet off the road to the east.
