Blaine man arrested, charged with 1st-degree child rape

BLAINE, Wash. — On November 11th, Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office deputies began investigating a report of a child rape that reportedly occurred earlier this month in Blaine.

According to an affidavit of probable cause for arrest filed in Whatcom County Superior Court by prosecutors, a WCSO deputy initially contacted the victim’s family at PeaceHealth St Joseph’s Medical Center while the victim was undergoing a sexual assault exam.

WCSO interviews with family and friends uncovered details that coincided with the victim’s description of an assault.

Fredy Martin-Esteban, age 20, was arrested and booked into Whatcom County Jail by WCSO after 7pm on November 11th and charged with suspicion of 1st-degree child rape along with 2 active warrants regarding driving under the influence charges filed in Whatcom County District Court.

As of November 15th, Martin-Esteban remained in custody pending being able to post a $200,000 bond set during a preliminary hearing held yesterday. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for December 2nd.
