Bellingham residence damaged in Monday fire

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The Bellingham Fire Department (BFD) reported today, Tuesday, July 7, 2026, that they responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the 3000 block of Walnut Street about 1:25pm yesterday.

The first firefighters arriving on scene reported a working fire involving a detached garage and extending to the main residence and a another detached garage. Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control and preventing it from spreading further.

While firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, others searched the affected structures to ensure all occupants were accounted for. A resident was reported to have sustained a minor injury.

The fire destroyed both detached garages and caused heavy damage to the main residence.

BFD reported the fire is believed to have originated from a wood-burning stove in one of the detached garages.
