The Ferndale Arts Commission has issued a call to artists for help adding murals around Ferndale.
Artists are invited to submit designs to be installed in downtown Ferndale next summer. Mural sizes will vary depending on location but all designs will be vetted by the Ferndale Arts Commission and the location property owner.
“Our goal is to bring new art styles that will complement the area and inspire our community,” said Ferndale City Councilmember Rebecca Xczar, council liaison to the Ferndale Arts Commission.
Interested artists should submit at least one sketch in color, with height and size preferences, along with their portfolio of relevant previous experience (pictures of prior murals completed or other art projects).
Submissions are to be sent to Rebecca Xczar at rebeccaxczar@cityofferndale.org. Anyone with questions is asked to call (360) 319-2677. The deadline for submissions is November 30th.
The Ferndale Arts Commission has already been responsible for previously installed murals around Ferndale including one on a city water reservoir at Vista Drive and Thornton Street, on another water reservoir on Church Road and on the south exterior wall of the Ferndale City Hall Annex building at 5694 2nd Avenue.
