Ferndale Heritage Society is ready for a new addition to the Pioneer Park collection of historical buildings to arrive Monday. The 99-year-old West Mountain View School building is already up wheels prepared to be hauled to Pioneer Park.
The plan is for the building to begin it’s journey from Intalco’s Totem Terrace park Saturday, September 26th, in the morning at 7am. Its path will take it south on Lake Terrell Road to Slater. From there it will proceed east on Slater Road to Ferndale Road where it will head north to the Bergsma House parking lot where it will be until early morning Monday when it is scheduled to be brought to its new permanent location in Pioneer Park.
In its nearly 100-year history, the building has served as a teacher’s home, school building, library branch and community hall.
Drivers on Lake Terrell Road, Slater Road and Ferndale Road should be prepared for delays while the building is being transported which is planned to happen between 7am and 10am Saturday.
