Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is accepting applications for the 2018 Citizens Academy.
The Citizens Academy is designed to educate citizens about the agency leading to a better understanding of law enforcement.
The academy will meet every Tuesday evening from 6pm to 9pm starting on Tuesday, September 4th and concluding with graduation on Tuesday, November 20th.
The Academy will cover many topics including
- Criminal investigations
- Patrol procedures
- K-9
- SWAT
- Drug and gang task force
- Traffic enforcement
- Crime scene investigations
- Marine patrol
- Jail operations
A maximum of 30 participants will participate. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, live in Whatcom County, be able to commit to the time requirements and must pass a basic background check.
