Whatcom snow forecast replaced with dry, cold and windy

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — People across Whatcom County woke to dropping frigid temperatures this morning, Thursday, February 19, 2026, and increasing winds. The combination resulting in dangerous wind chill temperatures in the low 20s to teens.

A cold weather advisory issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office is in effect until noon today for the lowlands of western Whatcom County and San Juan County. The advisory statement warns, “Very cold wind chills as low as 10 to 15 degrees expected.”

NWS forecasters noted this morning, “To the north, northeast winds have picked up, bringing cooler Fraser [Valley outflow] air into the north interior (down to as far as Clallam County).”

A personal weather station located in Ferndale is reporting gusts reached 45mph about 8am.

The precipitation chances decrease substantially going into the afternoon […] Some cloud-free blue sky is possible later in the day (especially in the [western Washington] north interior and coast) – although highs will likely struggle to reach 40 for many today. The clear skies however will result in cool temperatures tonight as the Fraser air is reinforced by north flow behind the trough (though the outflow will weaken tonight).

Precipitation is expected to return along with warmer temperatures beginning Saturday near the water and Sunday for inland Whatcom County locations.
