The project to repair and improve this heavily utilized arterial near Ferndale High School gets underway Wednesday and is expected to be closed at least until September.
According to an announcement from the city, beginning at 7am Wednesday, June 15th, drivers can expect to be required to take a detour around the project area. The road closure will continue in the evenings and on weekends.
According to the city announcement,
Washington Street between Vista Drive to Third Avenue, Shuksan Street and Golden Eagle Drive will be closed to through traffic.
Neighbors and businesses in the construction area will be permitted access in and out of their residences and businesses per the city announcement.
The suggested detour route is to the south via Vista Drive and 3rd Avenue. As a result, the four-way stop at 3rd Avenue and Vista Drive can be expected to see much heavier volumes.
