The US Marshals Service said today a man suspected of killing his girlfriend and her 4-year-old son in Arkansas, Jory John Worthen, 23, of Bearden, Arkansas, and thought to be in western US or Canada was captured.

Worthen was arrested this week by US Marshals in Burbank, California. The multi-agency investigation led them to a hotel in Burbank, California. After being identified by law enforcement, Worthen ran, but was soon found and taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Worthen is being held on the state warrant for murder and awaiting extradition back to Arkansas according to today’s announcement.

On June 25, 2019, the bodies of Worthen’s girlfriend, Alyssa Renee’ Cannon, age 20, and her son Marshall Braydon Ray Ponder, age 4, were found at Cannon’s home in Camden, Arkansas. Worthen fled in Alyssa’s vehicle, which was later found abandoned in a parking lot in Seattle.
