US CBP Air & Marine Branch’s recent assists in Ferndale part of a bigger law enforcement effort

US Customs and Border Protection’s Bellingham Air and Marine Branch made numerous seizures of narcotics, weapons and currency in addition to assisting local law enforcement in tracking down suspects and fugitives during their fiscal year 2020 (October to September).

During the fiscal year, the branch was responsible for seizing nearly 10,000 pounds of marijuana, 363 pounds of methamphetamine, more than 50 pounds of cocaine, 30 pounds of fentanyl and 6 pounds of heroin according to a press release issued today, October 29th.

In addition to the narcotics seizures, the branch seized $770,325 in currency, 30 weapons, 1 aircraft, 13 vehicles and arrested 37 people.US Customs and Border Protection press release – October 29, 2020

They also provide assistance to local, state and federal law enforcement. In that regard, the press release pointed out, the branch is off to a running start in fiscal year 2021, having already provided aerial coverage to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office during the apprehension of a murder suspect as well as in the apprehensions of a fugitive who escaped from a work crew and a suspect in the robberies of two marijuana retail businesses.
