Traffic impacts expected during 5-day road closure in Sudden Valley

SUDDEN VALLEY, Wash. — The Whatcom County Public Works Department announced they will be closing a half-mile section of Lake Whatcom Boulevard between Lake Louise Road and Southern Court next week.

Area of scheduled Lake Whatcom Boulevard road closure.

The all-day and all-night closure is scheduled between 7am on Monday, September 18th, and 4pm on Friday, September 22nd.

The closure will apply to all traffic, including emergency vehicles and school buses.

The closure is due to emergency work needed to replace a culvert that is failing and causing severe erosion of the road shoulder according to the announcement.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes using Cable Street, Lakeway Drive, I-5, Lake Samish Road and Alger Cain Lake Rd. The complete bypass route from each end of the closed section is 28 miles long.
