LYNDEN, Wash. — A proposed Lynden School District capital facilities levy has failed, according to the most recent vote count released at 10am by the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office.
As of that update, 59.87% of voters opposed the measure, with 3,211 no votes, while 40.13% supported it, totaling 2,152 yes votes.
The levy sought approval to collect $6.375 million per year from 2027 through 2030 to fund school facility expansions, safety and security upgrades, technology replacements, and the acquisition of a permanent facility for Lynden Academy.
The measure required a simple majority to pass but did not receive sufficient voter support. Results remain unofficial until certified, though the margin indicates the outcome is unlikely to change.
The levy was the only measure on the ballot for Lynden School District voters in the April special election.
