Detour signs were put in place as promised on Washington Street this morning. Drivers intended on using this route in their morning commute were directed to the detour route.
The road improvements project on Washington Street between Vista Drive and 3rd Avenue scheduled to continue into the fall officially began this morning as detour signs were set up at each end of the project area.
Drivers should expect this closure to continue for months, including evenings and weekends. Local access will be available for those living and working in the area.
The official detour route is 3rd Avenue and Vista Drive via the 4-way stop where they intersect. A suggested unofficial route for neighbors in north Ferndale is via Brown Road and Portal Way to/from I-5.
