Section of Mount Baker Highway to Artist Point closes for maintenance

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — Mount Baker Highway (SR542), will close to traffic between mileposts 47 and 54 from about 8am to about 4pm on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, and Thursday, October 1, 2026, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).

The closures will allow WSDOT maintenance crews to make pavement and road shoulder repairs and remove hazardous trees to prepare the highway for the annual winter closure, according to WSDOT.
