FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the southbound lanes of I-5 under the Portal Way overpass about 7:10am on October 15, 2026, due to reports of a single-vehicle rollover crash.
Initial witness reports broadcast by radio to responding Washington State Troopers said the driver had gotten out of the vehicle and walked away to the west into the bushes. He was reported to be the only occupant.
The left lane of southbound I-5 through the crash scene was closed until 8:50am.
Multiple law enforcement agencies set up a perimeter along roads to the west. The driver was reportedly located about a quarter-mile away about an hour after the crash and transported to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center by ambulance.
