Roadwork Continues on Main Street This Week

A City of Ferndale contractor will be continuing roadwork on Main Street this week beginning Tuesday, October 27th.

According to the City website, work between the Nooksack River bridge and WTA Park-n-Ride lot will follow the schedule below as weather permits:

Tuesday 10/27: Repair manhole in front of Pilot Travel Main Street entrance. Restore landscaping disturbed during pedestrian ramp installation this week at Barrett road. Flaggers will direct traffic and there may be times where traffic lanes are reduced. Hours of work: 8am – 5pm.

Wednesday 10/28: Starting at 7:30am, crews will grind and repave Main Street from the WTA Ferndale Station to Barrett Road, as well as between the light at Walgreens/Samuels to the driveway of Grocery Outlet near 1-5.

During grinding and paving operations, traffic will be flagged around the construction. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible. Work will continue until complete, which may be around or after 5pm.

The City will be setting the lights at LaBounty to “timer mode” instead of “by demand” because the vehicle detector loops will be disabled when the pavement is ground out in preparation for paving.

Thursday 10/29: Starting at 7:30am, crews will continue grinding and repave Main Street between I-5 and the Walgreen’s signal. Again, work will continue until complete, which may be around or after 5pm.

Friday 10/30: Crews will be repairing the vehicle detector loops that were disabled during grinding operations at LaBounty. Traffic will be flagged around the work zone during that work. Hours 8am – 5pm.

The City advises commuters to avoid Main Street by taking alternative routes.
