BLAINE/BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Over 4,000 in Whatcom County were reportedly without power this morning, Thursday, June 1st, due to 2 significant power outages.
About 9am, officials with Blaine Public Works said residents reported hearing a loud “boom” about 8:45am followed by a power outage in the neighborhoods between Kingsley Avenue and Hughes Avenue. They said crews were onsite investigating the cause and to make repairs.
In another separate and unrelated incident, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) reported a large power outage began about 9:15am in north Bellingham that was the result of a “bird or animal.”

PSE reported power had been restored to the Bellingham outage area by 10:15am.
Blaine Public Works reported power had been restored about 11am. No cause for the outage was provided.
