Possible human remains located in suitcase at Ross Lake

NEWHALEM, Wash. — The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) says they were contacted by the National Parks Service on October 12th after possible human remains were found in a suitcase by fishermen while fishing in the Ross Lake National Recreation Area.

WCSO spokesperson Deb Slater told Whatcom News that the Whatcom County Medical Examiner took possession of the remains. WCSO detectives have interviewed the 2 fishermen who had discovered the remains.

Due to this being an active investigation, no other information is being released at this time according to Slater.
