About 5:20am this morning, Ferndale Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Ferndale McDonald’s restaurant at Barrett Road and Main Street according to What-Comm 911 radio transmissions.
Upon arriving, police were told a male had come into the restaurant and forced his way behind the counter where he took some money from cash registers and fled. While no weapon was seen, people at the scene told police he warned them that he had one.
Law enforcement personnel set up a perimeter around the area and a K-9 (police dog) unit arrived and performed a search.
As of 11am today, no one had been booked into the Whatcom County Jail under related charges.
UPDATE 1pm
According to a statement from the Ferndale Police Department, employees described the suspect as a a younger-looking white male, about 6-foot 4-inches tall weighing 250 pounds and wearing a black jacket over a black or dark blue hoody, dark blue jeans and brown boots.
The suspect reportedly fled westbound on foot from the restaurant toward the Ferndale Events Center.
Deputies from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, along with troopers from the Washington State Patrol, assisted with a K-9 track for the suspect. However, the suspect was not located.
