The annual effort to stock the Ferndale Food Bank with turkeys for Thanksgiving is underway. Whatcom County Fire District 7 (WCFD7), in conjunction with the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce, is again making it easy for everyone to help those who find themselves in need this year.
Organizers say every $10 donated goes toward the purchase of a turkey. Last year saw a record $9,249 raised.
According to Food Bank Executive Director Suzanne Nevan, donations are also being accepted from businesses and faith communities for the “fixings” to go with the turkeys. For instance, Girl Scout Troop 41371 will again be baking pies that will be taken to the Food Bank.
Donations are being accepted at Ferndale Grocery Outlet, Ferndale Mini Market, Ferndale Chamber of Commerce and Outlaws Saloon.
Donations can also be made online by clicking this link or by calling the Ferndale Chamber of Commerce office at 360-384-3042.
Pledges will be accepted until November 17th.
