
FERNDALE, Wash. — This afternoon, the National Weather Service (NWS) Seattle office issued a Wind Advisory from 10pm today, December 29th, to 10am tomorrow.
According to NWS’ alert, sustained southeast winds of 20 to 35mph with gusts to 45mph are expected in western Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan Counties.
Most weather forecast models are expecting the winds to begin picking up after midnight and peaking about 10am, continuing through to tomorrow evening with weaker sustained winds around 20mph and gusts closer to 40mph.
UPDATE: NWS extended their advisory Wednesday morning to 7pm and upgraded the possible wind gust strength to up to 55mph.
With winds this strong, could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result according to the advisory statement.
