Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots from the general vicinity of Portal Way and I-5 (give or take a half-mile) and then hearing sirens after midnight tonight.
Those appeared to be unrelated incidents. About 12:35am, Ferndale Police were dispatched to do an area check regarding a report of 9-10 shots heard in the area of Portal Way and I-5. About 5 minutes later though, the officers were diverted by dispatch to a fight happening by Barrett Road and Main Street. This latter incident would account for sirens being heard as 3 police vehicles responded.
The fight had broken up by the time police arrived and the subsequent area check regarding gunshots appeared to have failed to turn up anything.
