Nearby: South Bellingham suffers widespread power outage – over 13,000 impacted

Puget Sound Energy reported 13,283 of their residential and business customers in south Bellingham lost power today, August 25th, about 4pm as a result of an equipment failure.

What-Comm 9-1-1 Dispatch Center staff say a transformer on Grant Street blew about the time several reports of power outages began being received.

Some in the impacted area reported power having been restored as of around 5:30pm.
