BELLINGHAM, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the southbound lanes of I-5 near the Ohio Street off-ramp about 4:30pm today, October 19th, due to a report of a motorcycle crash.
According to emergency radio transmissions prior to the crash, law enforcement were advised of a motorcycle southbound from W Bakerview Road that was traveling over 100mph while weaving through traffic
A Washington State Patrol trooper reported the motorcycle had crashed into the grassy area near the Ohio Street off-ramp.
Initial reports from the scene were that the motorcyclist did not appear to have suffered serious injuries.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
As of 4:45pm, traffic in the southbound lanes had backed up about 1.5 miles north of the Sunset Drive interchange.
