Minor earthquake reported in Ferndale tonight

A magnitude 2.4 earthquake was reported by the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network to have occurred in east Ferndale at 7:22pm today, Sunday, February 5th.

The epicenter was located near the intersection of Bel W Dr and W Smith Road and estimated to have been at a depth of 4.4 miles.

A M2.4 earthquake is considered a minor quake and just barely able to be felt. A depth of 4.4 miles makes this a very shallow quake (depths up to ~40 miles are considered shallow).
