LUMMI ISLAND, Wash. — Whatcom County Fire District 11, serving Lummi Island, announced today, November 30th, that remaining restrictions from an earlier Stage 2 burn ban have been lifted.

Fire danger was considered MODERATE when a burn ban issued in July was lifted October 30th. After lifting the ban, fires over 4 feet in diameter still required a written permit and fires less than 4 feet required a general permit.

With today’s announcement, recreational, residential and land clearing fires are again allowed and fires over 10 feet in diameter require a written permit and fires less than 10 feet require a general permit.

General Permits are available at the Islander Store or via the district’s website. Call 360-758-2411 to obtain a written permit.
