Ferndale’s Cub Scout Pack 4026 worked several weeks so 41 local families could enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal.

The Cub Scouts worked to collect supplies for the “baskets” which included stuffing, gravy, eggnog, green beans, cranberry sauce, fresh potatoes, a turkey, a roasting pan and a cheesecake. Then, working with Family Community Coordinators at the Ferndale School District, they distributed the complete holiday meals to local families who applied for the service.

Items included in the baskets were donated by the scout’s families along with donations or with discounts received from Ferndale Grocery Outlet, Grace Harbor Farms, Ebe Bros, Blaine Cost Cutter, Chuckanut Bay Foods, Franz Bakery, Ferndale Lions Club (the Pack’s Charter Organization) and Western Box. Whatcom New Life Assembly donated the space where the baskets were assembled.

According to Pack Den Leader Sharon Morey, Pack 4026 has been in operation and serving the Ferndale community for 68 years. They are also involved in the annual Christmas tree curbside pickup.
