The family of Michael Knapp will be accompanied by members of first responder agencies during the memorial procession to the Bellingham Christ the King Church, the site of Knapp’s memorial service on Wednesday, November 20th. Knapp died November 6th after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing a street in Lynden.

According to a press release from Bellingham Police, the procession will begin about 11:30am from the Phillips 66 Soccer Fields, proceed eastbound on W Smith Road to Guide Meridian, turn southbound on Guide Meridian and proceed to Westerly Road where it will enter the church parking lot (marked in green on the map below).

Members of the public wanting to pay their respects and show support for the Knapp family are advised to park in parking lots and stand on the sidewalks along Guide Meridian, specifically between Stuart and Westerly Roads (indicated in blue on the map).

There will be sufficient time to then move to the church parking lot in time for the memorial services which will begin at 1pm. My Ferndale News will be live-streaming the memorial service for those unable to attend.

Participating first responder agencies will be those where Chief Knapp had been employed.

Drivers can expect delays along the route between 11:30am and noon.
