In a repeat of yesterday’s incident, both lanes in both directions of I-5 were closed temporarily by law enforcement between Sunset Drive and Meridian Street interchanges about 1pm today, December 21st.
The closure is the result of police activity in the area according to Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Jacob Kennett.
Initial and unconfirmed reports were of a man walking along I-5, north of the Sunset Drive interchange, while pointing a knife toward another. Reports from the scene were that this was not the same individual they dealt with during yesterday’s incident.

The man was taken into custody by WSP without incident according to reports from the scene.
According to officials with the Washington State Department of Transportation, the southbound lanes were reopened as of 1:20pm. The northbound lanes were reopened about 1:30pm.
