BLAINE, Wash. — Robert O. Ziesing, 47, was sentenced on February 9, 2026, in Whatcom County Superior Court after he pled guilty to 2 counts of 4th-degree assault with sexual motivation.
The court sentenced Ziesing to serve 15 days in custody. The sentence included the option for alternative confinement through electronic home monitoring or home detention. Ziesing was ordered to pay $700 in total legal financial obligations, which included a $500 crime victim assessment and a $200 criminal filing fee. He was required to provide a biological sample for DNA identification.
The court also issued no-contact orders for 2 victims that will remain in effect for 2 years. Under these orders, Ziesing is prohibited from coming within 1,000 feet of the victims, their residences, or their schools.
Ziesing entered an In re Barr plea; he acknowledged that facts in the original charges could lead to a conviction and stated he was pleading guilty to avoid the risk of trial.
The charges resulted from an incident on August 2, 2022. Ziesing was a teacher for the Lummi Nation School and was chaperoning a summer school program at a water park in Birch Bay. Multiple witnesses, including teachers, paraeducators and a bus driver, reported observing Ziesing having inappropriate physical contact with 2 students. Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office investigators reviewed video footage from the location that showed Ziesing having contact with the students. Ziesing surrendered and was booked into Whatcom County Jail on September 23, 2022, for 2 counts of 1st-degree child molestation. He posted a $75,000 bond and was released from custody.
His current address was listed in Grays Harbor County.
