Heavy weekend rain continues, Nooksack River level forecast nears Action Level

WHATCOM COUNTY, Wash. — The Nooksack River level forecast expects the river level to climb quickly this evening and through tomorrow, Monday, March 24, 2025.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service Seattle office said this afternoon that heavy precipitation associated with an atmospheric river had dropped 0.5-2.0″ in the Cascades over the last 12 hours. Rainfall is expected to continue through tonight, easing tomorrow.

As of Sunday, March 23, 2025, current Nooksack River level forecasts have the river level remaining below Action Stage at all gauges except at Ferndale where it is forecast to crest right at Action Stage, 15 feet, late Monday evening.

Road impacts can be expected in the Ferndale area when the river level reaches the 15-foot mark. Low lying roads near the river can be expected to have water and debris over them, leading some to be closed.

River level forecasts can change frequently so motorists and property owners are advised to monitor the Nooksack River level forecast.
