Haggen filed a motion with the Bankruptcy Court in the District of Delaware (PDF) yesterday, November 9th, seeking permission to sell their core stores, including the store at 1815 Main Street in Ferndale.
Non-core stores are identified in the bankruptcy documents as those “which are losing money and are located in non-strategic locations” and core stores as “successful and located in strategic locations.” There are 32 core stores identified in court documents.
The auctioning of many Haggen non-core stores began yesterday and while that was happening the Haggen legal counsel was submitting the motion to be able to sell the core stores.
Whether one or more prospective purchasers have been found or if Haggen intends to sell one or all of its core stores is not revealed in the documents.
