Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding told Whatcom News that they had received reports of the vehicle, a red 2015 Kia Optima with dealer plates, having trouble staying in its lane while traveling northbound on Guide Meridian. The vehicle then crossed all southbound lanes, went into a ditch and launched out of the ditch coming to a stop off the roadway.

Harding confirmed the driver was transported to PeaceHealth St Josph Medical Center. She did not have information regarding the extent of their injuries.

The driver, once released from medical care, faces a charge of suspicion of driving under the influence according to Harding.
