Road closures are a real possibility Thursday afternoon through Friday given the Nooksack River level forecast at Ferndale. Roads typically impacted include Slater Road, Marine Drive, Ferndale Road and Barrett/Paradise Roads.
This morning the National Weather Service issued an Areal Flood Watch that includes the Nooksack River as a result of expected heavy rains beginning tonight through Thursday morning both locally and in the mountains.
As forewarned yesterday, the river level forecast continues to predict the river cresting right at flood stage (19 feet) before noon Friday. Minor flood pushing water and debris onto roadways is likely when the river reaches 18 feet and road closures can also be expected. The river is expected to reach 18 feet Thursday evening.
