Firefighters respond to late night Maple Falls travel trailer fire

MAPLE FALLS, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to a report of a trailer fire in the 6200 block of Laurel Place in Maple Falls about 11:25pm last night, October 20th.

Whatcom County Fire District 14 Fire Chief Jerry DeBruin told Whatcom News the sole occupant awoke to find a fire burning at the foot of their bed and was able to safely evacuate.

The trailer was considered a total loss and the Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance.

DeBruin said he was thankful there was no delay in responding and for recent rains since firefighters had to work to keep the fire from spreading to a nearby trailer. That trailer suffered a melted awning.
