About 9am today, firefighters from Whatcom County Fire District 7 headed back out to a fire in the same field they had been in yesterday. They had knocked down the fire shortly after gaining access to the field.
The field is located east of Blaine Road and north of Grandview Road. The area involved was smaller than yesterday’s fire but was growing when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters were dispatched about 1:30pm yesterday to the same location.
The property is owned by BP and the field area is available to be farmed. A neighbor reported seeing the field being hayed in the past few days.

This is the same location of a much larger fire this time last year.
A county-wide Stage 1 burn ban has been in effect due since July 5th to due to lowering fuel moisture levels.
