FERNDALE, Wash. — A Ferndale man has been arrested and charged in Whatcom County Superior Court with 1st degree rape of a child and other charges following an investigation by Ferndale Police.
Jonathon “John” Charles Sortino, age 52, was arrested by Ferndale Police on December 16, 2021, after an investigation that included the victim’s testimony regarding years of abuse and online conversations between Sortino and a friend that include what appear to be confessions to the crimes.
Sortino was arrested at the Seattle-Tacoma Airport on December 15, 2021, and booked into the Whatcom County Jail.
Sortino currently faces the following felony charges in Whatcom County Superior Court.
- 1st degree rape of a child
- 1st degree incest (2x)
- 3rd degree rape of a child
- 1st degree dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct
As of January 18th, Sortino remained in custody pending being able to post a $100,000 bond or $10,000 in cash.
