Ferndale injury crash sends 1 to the hospital

FERNDALE, Wash. — First responders were dispatched to the T-intersection of Northwest Drive and W Pole Road Saturday, August 20th, about 10:50pm due to a report of a single-vehicle injury crash.

Whatcom Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Deb Slater told Whatcom News in an email that a Jeep Wrangler was westbound on W Pole Rd when it failed to stop at a stop sign at Northwest Drive. It continued onto private property where it crashed into a parked large flatbed farm truck.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 Fire Chief Larry Hoffman told Whatcom News the vehicle was wedged under the flatbed truck and required using WCFD7 apparatus to pull it clear so the driver could be extricated. Hoffman said WCFD7 personnel worked for about 40 minutes to clear the driver from the wreckage.

The driver was transported by a medic unit under advanced life support (ALS) protocol.
