FERNDALE, Wash. — Yesterday, Friday, May 22nd, Ferndale High School (FHS) Principal Jeremy Vincent sent a letter to families that included information about plans being made to recognize FHS Class of 2020 seniors.
According to Vincent’s letter, “graduation will be a produced digital ceremony featuring filmed speeches, presentations, and graduates walking across the stage with their diploma.” Previously planned to be released on June 13th, the day after the last day of school for seniors, the recorded video production is now expected to be made available June 20th.
The speeches, presentations and graduates receiving diplomas may be available to be viewed live on June 13th. “More information is coming regarding logistics and filming schedule,” Vincent told families.
Also planned is a social distancing community event on June 12th. Referred to in Vincent’s letter as a “Stadium Lights Drive-through,” FHS stadium lights will be lit and the community will be encouraged to “make some noise for our seniors at exactly 8:20 PM that evening.” In military time, 8:20pm is referred to as “2020.” Vincent said they “will encourage everyone to step outside and add their voice to (what we hope) will be a loud roar heard throughout our school district!”
