April is “Distracted Driving Awareness Month” and extra police patrols will be looking to have a talk with distracted drivers.
Ferndale Police will be conducting a special emphasis patrol today and will stop and contact distracted drivers (cell phone, texting, etc.). They will also be looking for seatbelt violations and speeders.
Ferndale police have asked Discover Ferndale to help get the word out about these emphasis patrols in the hope more people will drive safely at least to avoid the ticket. No specific location for the emphasis patrol had been determined by the time this article was written.
The emphasis patrols are funded by Federal and State agency grants that focus on problematic traffic issues and locations.
