A bank robber fled the Washington Federal Ferndale branch at 3rd Avenue and Main Street after presenting a note to the teller demanding money and leaving with a small amount of cash during the September 22nd robbery.

According to Ferndale Police Lieutenant Matt Huffman, based on surveillance photographs, officers from other law enforcement agencies advised Ferndale Police detectives that the suspect looked like Cody L. Pierce, age 31. Photographic line-ups were presented to 3 bank employees and he was pointed out by all 3.

Pierce was in Whatcom County Jail pending other charges.  Ferndale detectives interviewed him on January 25th and he denied any involvement in the bank robbery. “Based on the photographic line-up, we did have probable cause for the arrest, and that was served while he was already in custody,” Huffman said in an email.

Pierce has been charged with 1st degree robbery.

Denise I have gotten over 300 people saying its not Cody Pierce. I cant believe they just took it upon themselves to blast his name over the media for robbing a bank especially posting a photo of someone else and saying its Cody . I am so disgusted by this whole situation Not to mention it has put his family in harms way for something that should of been thought over very carefully before blasting someones name and mistaken identity
