NOOKSACK, Wash. — About 5pm, Tuesday, March 15th, first responders were dispatched to a report of a single vehicle crash in the 8300 block of N Pass Road northeast of Nooksack.

According to Whatcom County Fire District 16 Fire Chief Hank Maleng, the vehicle had left the road and ended up wedged between trees. Firefighters worked to extricate and perform lifesaving measures but were unable to revive the driver, who was declared dead at the scene.
The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) were investigating.
WCSO Spokesperson Deb Slater told Whatcom News in an email on March 16th that their investigation so far “indicates that a medical event may have preceded the accident. There were no injuries on the deceased driver that were consistent with the vehicle damage. Medical Examiner assumed jurisdiction and will determine the cause of death.”
Next of kin had been notified according to Slater.
