Whether you are transferring from another school or simply starting a new year at the same school (and everything in between), it can be complicated. The following information has been compiled from various sources to help parents and students prepare for the new year.
Enrolling at a school
To enroll at one of the Ferndale schools go to the office at the neighborhood school to be enrolled in. The high school, middle school and elementary school offices opened earlier this month. School offices are open from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
Beforehand, you can download the enrollment forms from the School District website. These forms are chock-full of the information the State requires schools to collect. You can download the transfer forms too.
To determine which school to register with, click here to use the locator provided by the Ferndale School District. It will also provide bus stop information.

My student did not show up on a class list. Now what?
Sometimes missing immunizations or other enrollment requirements will cause a student to not be completely enrolled. Check with the school office during office hours to find out what is missing and how to provide it.
School supplies
Elementary school students will have school supplies provided by the Ferndale School District. This is the second year the School District will provide supplies for all elementary students. Backpacks are not included although there are some available for students in the free and reduced lunch program. Check with your school’s office.
Middle School and High School students have much more varied supply requirements which are directly tied to which courses they elect to take. Students will be required to provide the supplies required for the courses they signup for.
Distribution of supplies to students in grades 6-12 who qualify for free/reduced meals will take place Wednesday, August 31 at Vista Middle School Gymnasium (6051 Vista Drive). Stop by from 12pm to 2pm or 4pm to 6pm to pick up supplies. These include pens, pencils, paper, crayons, binders, tissue and erasers.
